COMPANY DESCRIPTION

SpliceBio is a genetic medicines company (biotech) harnessing its proprietary Protein Splicing platform to develop the next generation of gene therapies. Our mission is to develop novel genetic medicines to treat patients suffering from uncurable diseases by delivering any genes using Protein Splicing. Our platform is based on technology developed in the Muir Lab at Princeton University after more than 20 years of pioneering intein and protein engineering research. The company is based in Barcelona, Spain and evolves at an international level.

SCOPE
The Laboratory Technician will play a key role within the Translational Department, specifically in the R&D Vector Core Unit, supporting the production, purification, and characterization of AAV (Adeno-Associated Virus) vectors. The role involves performing molecular biology techniques, supporting plasmid preparation, and executing production and purification processes for AAV vectors in compliance with internal procedures and international quality standards. The technician will work closely with the research team to ensure the successful execution of experiments and contribute to the development of innovative gene therapy products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Molecular Biology and Plasmid Preparation

  • Perform molecular cloning activities to generate new DNA constructs using different techniques
  • Support the generation of plasmid preparations
  • Execute quality control assessments of DNA constructs
  • Support the preparation and quality control of plasmids

Cell culture, AAV Vector Production and Purification

  • Assist in cell culture maintenance and techniques
  • Execute AAV vector production processes
  • Perform purification of AAV vectors using different methodologies
  • Support the characterization and quality assessment of AAV vectors
  • Aid in the execution and development of cell-based assays

Laboratory Operations and Compliance

  • Keep accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records
  • Maintain accurate inventories of generated constructs and vectors
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with internal procedures and safety guidelines
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine calibrations, and report technical issues
  • Assist in the development and optimization of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Scientists and other team members to troubleshoot experimental challenges and suggest improvements
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and propose technical solutions
  • Stay updated on technological advances relevant to AAV production and molecular biology techniques
